Japan

Hawaii!!! 49 states down one to go. We stopped in Hawaii to change planes. That was an adventure China Air must not be a common flight plan Hawaii is a destination not a layover. After lots of questions we found our next airplane. The lady changed our seats so we each had an aisle seat with two empty seats in between. This was very helpful on a 9 hour flight. I was able to lay on three seats and sleep with my leg up. So many little blessings.
When we got to Japan we were exhausted. There were so many things papers to fill out at customs pick up baggage fill out more paper work. Then buy a train ticket to Tokyo. Figuring out how to get the ticket machine to take the ticket and getting the luggage through had to talk to an attendant he made it look easy. I was so tired. Hour long train ride then getting out of the subway then find the bus to the hotel. In the hotel find the front desk. It is hidden. Finally after a day of travel sleep awaits.

After a good nights sleep we had a great breakfast. Then off on to the trains for an hour and a half train ride to Nagoya. It is so much easier to negotiate the trains without luggage. We went past Mount Fuji and saw it covered in a nice blanket of clouds. No pictures I was on the wrong side anyway. On the fast trains the seats are assigned.

When we got to Nagoya Val, Dinakar, and Sakuuchi San went off to the meeting and I was going to Nagoya Castle. That was all fine and good all I needed to do was get a taxi to there. Well after totally confusing the first cabbie he sent me out of the cab. I tried the next one then the next no luck. I walked away looked at the map how could no cabbie know where the castle was. One problem was there was a hotel called the castle. This didn't help and me not speaking Japanese and them no English. I tried my luck again learning from the first three experiences. I was off to the castle and I could see the road signs that showed the way. The castle was great. Here are some pictures.

It was a fortress from the Shogun area. It was six stories high thank goodness for elevators. Funny story the elevator was full it stopped on the next floor about six Japanese ladies were there instead of waiting for the next elevator the squeezed into the spaces. It was so funny. I took lots of pictures.
There was a palace. They were renovation it. This part was done and there were panels from the original palace. I had to take off my shoes this was hard I was tired. I put my shoes in a locker and they took my bag and reminded my no flash photography so in I went.

This gives you an idea. The cab ride was not as hard the knew where Nagoya station was. I was to meet Val at a clock. There is no place to sit in the stations. So I found a place outside by a fountain. I was early so I sat there to wait and took some pictures from where I sat I was so tired.

If you have read this far I guess I should say that they did come for me they were late and I had to stand by the clock a long time. So glad I dint have to ride the train back by myself.

I'm going to continue the story on the next blog.
