Peru
I was privileged to go to Peru with Val his brothers, sister, their spouses and their dad. One of Val's brothers Vance owns the Treehouse lodge in Peru. He invited us down there. He arranged the itinerary all I had to do was keep up. That was not easy but I did it. And after a week of rest I'm recovered.
Val and I met up with everyone in Houston Texas then off to Panama. We spent a day there. We went to the Panama Canal which was on my bucket list before I knew about bucket list. It was so cool.
We then drove to the coast and got on two boats to go out to an island. This is where I had fun taking pictures.
After a good nights rest we took off for Peru landing in Iquitos which is an island surrounded by rivers. The airport was small and we walked out of the airplane and down to the Tarmac. Shortly after we landed it started to land. Things in Peru do not move fast and when your traveling with eleven people they move slower. Customs and baggage clam was fun. I lost my baggage ticket with broken English we were able to gather my suit case and head to the van. We drove on the "road" to Naut. There is only one road between the two towns and took about an hour and a half. In the pouring rain. In Naut we got on a long skinny boat with one seat on each Sid with a walk way in between. There was a metal roof to keep out rain and sun. The rain had stopped. The river was running high with logs floating down it. The river was more like a lake with a fast current. This was a day of concerning fears, I was terrified of getting in the boat, I had no choice so I got in. I watched our luggage float off in another long boat next to an extra boat just in case of problems. (Where was our extra boat incase of problems?). We did have life vests. After a bit I realized we weren't going to run into logs or capsize it watched the scenery. It was amazing to be in the rain forest. So green and beautiful. An hour and a half boat ride we made it to the treehouse lodge.
I'm going to break this up into parts so I will continue on the next blog. Tree house.
