Empty Nesters

Image
Everyone is asking me how it feels to be an empty nester.  I took Emma to Brigham Young University - Idaho after Labor day weekend.  She is now settled into her apartment and having fun with her new college life.  It took longer than I thought to get her moved in.  Things always take longer I should be use to it by now.  I went to Utah by way of Star Valley to see the Star Valley Temple.  The photo I took is on my photo blog.  They were rehearsing for the celebration and about to film primary children walking to the temple. I listened to the BYU football game on the way to Springville.  I was going to watch it with my parents but I was delayed settling Emma in to her place.  There are times you rearrange your schedule for your child's needs and I was happy to do it. At the parent meeting they said a quote about sending our children off into the world that I realy like it is "Great emptiness without them, great fullness because of them."

Our family reunion

Image
Life has been very busy. After our trip to China I was sick some kind of cold I rested for a few days then got ready for our Val Cook family reunion. Fr our reunion we stayed at Val's brother Vance's cabin in Eden Utah.  It was so much fun.  We played games rested had a Foosball and ping pong tournament.  It was so good to be altogether. Birthday celebration for Kyle and Adam who had birthdays while we were in China. A look around the cabin;  Val fixed his sail boat and brought it along.  Nathaniel brought his sail boat to so there was some sailing going on also.

Forbidden City

Brianne and Dustin were great tour guides they knew just where to take us.  We went to the forbidden City on a bus and walked up a hill to over look it first.  Then we took a rickshaw ride to the other side to the entrance.  It was a lot of walking too. Here is a shop on the way. Forbidden City The more figures on a building the more important the building, a dragon chasing the phoenix.

Lake Powell - Sail

Image
Val and I went to Lake Powell to spend time with his family unfortunately none of our children could make it.  I took my camera and Val took his boat. Val was coming back from the Philippines so I had to load up everything and meet him at the San Francisco Airport.  That was a 8:00 pm we slept in a hotel part way and arrived at Wahweep Arizona at 2 in the morning slept in the houseboat with his family.  The next morning we set sail and embarked on our exciting adventure. We had a great time.  It took about two hours to motor the houseboats to our camping spot.  That afternoon Val was getting ready to go out on the sail boat with Vaughn.  I told Val I would go on one ride with him.  I'm not a big fan of sailing we turtled the first time we went out years ago.  He tries to convince me that it is relaxing.  It's not!  I went out with him because I wanted to be with him.  Well it was very choppy water and the wind was squirrly.  Vaughn was learning how to sail.  I f
